I have been in Douglas County my whole life. I attended Annette Winn Elemenetary School, Lithia Springs Elementary School, Turner Middle School, and Lithia Springs High School, GO LIONS!! After High School I recieved a Bachelors Degree in Information Systems Technology in 1998 from Mercer University. I am a career changer, and later decided to go back to Mercer University Tift College of Education to Complete my Georgia Teacher Certification in Early Care and Education with the Special Needs Endorsement in 2011.  I look forward to going on to get my Master's Degree.

I have been in the Georgia Pre-K Program with Bright from the Start for the past 10 years. I started out as a Substitute Teacher in the Program in 2007. I worked my way to an assistant teacher while I was attending Mercer University for my teacher certification. For the last six years I have been the Lead Pre-K Teacher in the Pink Panthers Classroom at Green Acres Preschool in Douglasville. I was one of six teachers statewide who was nominated for Teacher of the Year for Bright from the Start for the 2016 - 2017 school year.

My name is Tonya Freeman and this is my first year at Mason Creek Elementary School. I am so excited to be here and join the Kindergarten team. I can’t wait to get this year started and create a warm and inviting learning environment for your child. Just as I teach them, they teach me something new every day. I can’t wait for all the learning, fun, and exploring we are going to do this year! I am a lifelong resident of Douglas County.  I am also the Media Director for my church and manage a Facebook group called Mrs. Freeman’s World, where I discuss education articles and share what is happening in my classroom. I am married to a wonderful man named Gary and we have 4 children between us, Kaleb 18, Kasey 19, Kody 24, and Justin 24. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling and camping at the lake in our travel trailer.
