Mission Statement

The mission of the Mason Creek Elementary School Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive school guidance program for all students.  The program is designed to provide an authentic learning experience that will enable and empower students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens by encouraging the personal, social, emotional, and academic development of all students.

The Comprehensive School Guidance Plan

at MAES includes:

  • Classroom Guidance: Classroom guidance lessons are developmental in design and address topics such as test-taking skills, bullying, manners, responsibility, etc.
  • Small Group Counseling:  Small group counseling provides a small group learning environment with students who may share a common concern, such as divorce, grief and loss, friendship skills, etc.
  • Individual Counseling:  Individual counseling consists of working with individual students to help meet specific needs.  Administrators, teachers, and parents/guardians may refer students for individual counseling.  Students may also refer themselves.
  • Consultation:  The school counselor consults and collaborates with parents, teachers, administration, and other significant school personnel to provide support and promote student success.

Help: Mentors Needed!!

The Douglas County School System is proud of their MATCH Mentoring program. The MATCH Mentoring program connects participating students with a caring adult who can be a postive role model in the child's life.   Mentors spend time with their mentee during school hours, typically up to 1 hour per week.  The mission of the MATCH Mentoring program is, "To ensure all students have positive, caring, supportive adult role models as part of their lives to enhance their chances for success in school, complete their education, and grow up to be contributing citizens".  If you would like to volunteer to make a difference in the life of a child, please contact me.
